GEF

Global Environment Facility.

Generic name

a company can apply for a permit to use a descriptive name (generic name) of a component included in a product and use that name on a label or in a safety data sheet instead of an unambiguous chemical name.

Genetic organism

Biological entity that can multiply or transpose genetic material.

GHS

Globally Harmonised System.

GLP

Good Laboratory Practice.

GMO

A genetically modified organism is an organism in which the genetic material has been changed in a way that is not naturally occurring through mating or through recombination.

Government assignment

Governmental instructions or assignment to conduct an investigation.

Green paper

Green Papers are usually used to launch a consultation process. They present Commission policy orientations for debate to interested parties who may wish to comment.

Ground water

Groundwater is water located beneath the ground surface in soil pore spaces and in the fractures of rock formations.
