What should I be aware of when using agents against mosquitoes and ticks?

Question :

What should I be aware of when using agents against mosquitoes and ticks?

Answer :

Agents against mosquitoes and ticks are unique as pesticides in that they are often intended to be applied directly to the skin. You should for this reason purchase only agents that have been approved by the Swedish Chemicals Agency (KemI), and you should use them carefully. This is particularly true for their use on small children.

Agents against mosquitoes and ticks must never be applied to anything more than a limited area of skin, and they should never be considered to be a primary choice. They should only be used when other methods, such as mosquito netting and normal clothing, cannot be used or have not given sufficient protection.

KemI does not consider it necessary to warn pregnant women against using agents against mosquitoes and ticks, based on current knowledge about their active substances, provided that they are used as specified by the instructions for use, and at the correct doses.
