Working with KemI

The Swedish Chemicals Agency is a governmental authority under the Ministry of the Environment, and is responsible for carrying out chemicals control.

The Swedish Chemicals Agency is responsible for one of 16 national environmental quality objectives, A Non-Toxic Environment. This task is both exciting and challenging given to us by the Swedish Government and Parliament (Riksdag). Read more about A Non-Toxic Environment.

The Swedish Chemicals agency works both nationally and in global co-operation to prevent harm to human beings and the environment from chemical and biotechnical products.

One important part of the work is to supervise that companies manufacturing or importing chemical products take the responsibility they are obliged to according to the legislation. This does not only apply to Sweden. The REACH regulation places much larger responsibility on all industries within the European Union.
